We will do our utmost to ensure the successful launch of the Integrated Special Metropolitan City.
Greetings.
On January 2, Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeollanam-do declared their commitment to administrative integration in front of the Gate of Democracy.
Within 58 days, the Special Act on the Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City was enacted.
Through the follow-up process, the Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City will be launched on July 1.
Gwangju Institute has played a leading role in the enactment of the Special Act and in the public deliberation process.
Gwangju Institute is now shaping the future vision of the Integrated Special Metropolitan City.
We are developing policy alternatives across key areas, including administrative and fiscal systems, spatial restructuring, specialized industry development, and improvements in citizens’ quality of life.
We will expand the “integration first, adjustment later” administrative integration model and lead locally driven balanced growth.
We sincerely thank everyone for their generous support and encouragement for Gwangju Institute.
